When MotorCity Casino opened a brand new hotel, spa, high-end restaurant and concert hall, our team at Campbell Ewald positioned MotorCity as the place to escape the everyday without having to travel faraway. We highlighted this sensibility whenever we could, even when the Chippendales came to town.

As Detroit's largest youth athletic and mentorship organization, the Detroit Police Athletic League knows the kids they serve will define the future of our city. We developed this tagline and branding campaign to highlight these kids and their potential. (AD: Susie Campo)     

The Michelin Man is actually named Sir Bibendum. He’s French, smokes cigars and is over 120 years old. I learned all this while creating a website that took visitors inside his tire-making lair. Bib's online crib was nominated for thefwa.com's 2007 site of the year and the spin-off spot ran on the Super Bowl. Prior to doing interior design work for him, we sold high-performance tires together. (ADs: Marge Bornais, Rob Dey)

Our team at DP+ conceived and built the MIBlue voice assistant to bring the health and wellness resources of Blue Cross to Amazon Alexa and Google Home users. After debuting in May 2018, our skill gained media attention when we added the “Train Like A Lion” feature with Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions.

WXYZ-TV Story

The assignment was to make a 76-year old institution feel contemporary and approachable. We needed to demonstrate how Blue Cross is the one insurer who understands people in Michigan better than any other.

We launched with tv and digital video. Director Peggy Sirota helped us develop a series of spots that told the Blue Cross story while showing the vibrancy of the people the company protects.

To support a heavy digital media plan, we produced online advertising that was contextually-relevant to the health and wellness content our target frequented. An “exercise superhero” gave on-the-go fitness lessons in mobile ads. Fresh, local produce was promoted in a series of pre-roll ads. Sharable recipes were made for social and banner ads offered up fun family activities. All ads directed viewers to the company’s health and wellness blog where engagement stats soared. Static banners focused on brand attributes like stability and local focus. Digital radio allowed us to dive deeper into talking points while keeping the same brand tone.

The end result was a cohesive campaign that shows how Blue Cross is always evolving to meet the needs of people in Michigan.  (AD: Susie Campo)  

The Planet Ant Theater is a community institution that has launched the careers of comedy stars like Keegan Michael Key and Sam Richardson. This package of social posts, posters and print ads drove awareness and donations to ensure the next generation of Detroit talent could hone their skills with a working roof overhead. When Dan Gilbert needed a brand for his casino empire, he gave our team at DP one thing to work from: the name Jack. We made JACK the first name in civilized debauchery.

#MIKidsCan is a Blue Cross initiative to promote good diet and exercise habits for kids. Through a partnership with the Detroit Tigers, we enlisted Paws to share some healthy tips between innings. We also hosted promotions and created giveaways at major Michigan sporting events. (AD: Susie Campo)

In 2005 when the Major League Baseball All Star Game was played in their hometown of Detroit, Chevrolet wanted to flex their official sponsor muscle and do something that would get noticed. This idea extended the game out of the ballpark and into the city. Newspapers around the country covered it extensively and it was frequently highlighted by the announcers during broadcasts of the Home Run Derby and All Star Game.  (AD Marge Bornais)
